ERM and Estonian Folk Arts and Crafts Association overview exhibition “LUKKsus”

From 9.02-28.02.2021 our gallery hosts an overview exhibition “LUKKsus” in our gallery.

The curator of the exhibition is Heidi Solo.

You can see special exhibits and locks from private collections. Based on the special solutions of historical lock systems, several unique wooden locks have been made for the exhibition, which the visitor can try with their own hands.

The exhibition “LUKKsus” provides an overview of wooden door locks that have been used since ancient times. Each codlock is a unique copy of the author, because each farmer locked his door himself. Varying materials, dimensions and proportions. However, the working principle is the same for everyone: locking the locking parts by gravity.

The exhibition features locks from the museum’s collections as well as handcrafted locks. A special rarity is the lock locked from Hiiumaa to Lübeck in 1918, which has returned to its homeland a century later.

Have exciting exhibition experience!
