From 15.07 – 27.07.2024 the Gallery hosts paintings exhibition “Covered” by Elisa Ritsing
The exhibition “Covered” talks about the natural human effort to hide one’s negative emotions. In those moments, when we are around other people, we hide our sadness, anger, fear or simply unhappiness under a beautiful surface (veil). We act this way because these unwanted feelings make us appear weak to the world, yet to the public, the world and life in it is built on positivity, success, smile and lightness. From there, it’s as if there is no space for the negative emotions, especially for showing them. In those moments, we hide ourselves and our emotions under a protective veil that allows us to still appear as part of the accepted social norm.
